Coming soon – the bigger, better, brand new BT Tradespace

Back to BT Tradespace blog

If you were to walk by the BT Tradespace office any time soon, you’d probably find the midnight oil burning, laptops steaming and the team buzzing away like a bunch of knuckle-busting bees. Seriously, we’ve been working around the clock to improve our website and make it work better for you. And the good news is… it’s coming soon!
So come mid-October, you’ll find an all new, better than ever BT Tradespace when you log in. Truth be told, all of the improvements we’re making are down to you. We’ve been reading through all the feedback you’ve given us and used the main comments to work on some of things that have been driving you up the wall.
So what’s changing and what’s in it for you and your customers?
Well, we don’t want to give away too much (why spoil the surprise right?) but the good stuff is about making it easier for you to do business online. So here are some of the things you can jump up and down about.
We’re launching a new Marketplace section – It’s all about getting your products on show and getting customers buying them. So what better way than to have a shop floor that brings the best of products and services from our Tradespacers to customers when they want it.
Search is better, faster, and easier – You wanted local search? You’ve got it! Not only can you search by postcode but you can view a mapped version of search results making it easier for your customers to find you.
Increased visibility - If you’ve been on top of your Tradespace and updating it with new and exciting content, then you’re in it to win it. Tradepaces that have regular updates with good quality content will be picked up more easily in our search results. Plus don’t forget that all important page rank!
Enhanced categories – A lot of you have been telling us you can’t find a suitable category to slot your business in, so we’ve enhanced our categories to address this concern. Plus, you can now put your products and services in several categories so you’re not restricted in the way you show off your stuff.
Increased content capacity – We’ve reviewed the amount of content you can post for our Basic members and have some special offers in store for our premium Contact members – all designed to help you get the best out of your Tradespace.
What next?
•For details on what’s coming up and when, watch your inboxes for an email from us.
•Update your Tradespace with the latest and greatest from your business.
•Add in details of your postcodes and descriptions to make sure you’re included in the local search.
•And – keep a look out – BT Tradespace is coming to get ya!
PS: And thanks for all the feedback. We happen to love it so keep those comments coming!

Two comments:
1) Can you make it run quicker? It seems really slow – perhaps it’s just tonight.
2) Can you take the nofollow off our company profiles? Stop trying to rank above our own websites for our company names!

BT Tradespace combines a business directory listing, your own self editible webspace and has the marketing power of BT to back it all up.BT Tradespace is unbearably slow. I have a fast laptop, using a wired network connection with the best BT Total broadband package yet the BT Tradespace site is almost unusable.

Hi Malcolm
BT Tradespace has automatic rules that determine whether a business profile should have nofollow links.
It’s not an attempt to make any particular Tradespace page rank higher than external pages, it’s to discourage spammers from creating empty profiles simply for the purpose of gaining links to other (sometimes inappropriate) sites.
A well-maintained environment will benefit all members. An empty site containing only links to other pages will not appear very attractive to search engines or people actually looking for someone to do business with.
More valuable than a link, interesting and useful content will attract an audience – that audience could turn into your customers.

Has the current political uncertainty made you
