How to enhance your BT Tradespace profile

Back to BT Tradespace how to guides

To take advantage of everything BT Tradespace offers – like the opportunity to sell products, list services and showcase your business through pictures and video in galleries and more, you first need to upgrade from a basic/simple Tradespace which you initially sign up to an enhanced one.

Of course, first things first, it’s quick to enhance your Tradespace profile and free. You keep your URL/Tradespace link plus all the info you’ve already uploaded – all you need to provide is a bit of extra info about your business and an image you can use as a background for your Tradespace and then just add to your Tradespace as you will!

Watch our video below for a quick overview or keep reading for the full guide!

Here’s a breakdown of how to enhance your Tradespace.

1. Click on any of the buttons you see on the screen to set up shop, services or enhance your profile (once you’ve signed up) to start the enhanced business profile (EBP) set-up process.

Click on this link now to start

2. Click on ‘Begin’.

3. Enhance your look & feel

You’ll see the image and colour you chose at the intial sign-up here.

  • Upload your header image to your Tradespace. This will sit as a background image at the top of your Tradespace. The best size for your image is 990 x 400 pixels.
  • Click on ‘Preview look & feel’ to see how your enhanced Tradespace will look.
  • Click on ‘Continue’.

4. Enhance your content

When you reach this screen you’ll see the info that you entered at the basic sign-up here. You can leave this or edit what you initially entered.

  • Write a few words to introduce your business. This text becomes the title for your new ‘About us’ page.
  • Enter your ‘About us’ text: tell us about your business in more detail. Keep it interesting and fun but don’t forget to include your keywords – if relevant!
  • Add an image or video. You can choose to upload an image or a video for your ‘About us’ page. You upload videos the same way as images – they just take extra time to process. Tip: if you add one, it shows on your Tradespace homepage!
  • Additional info: this text displays below your ‘About us’ text and any image or video. You can use this to include any extra info about your business – for example directions if you’ve uploaded an image of your shop.
  • Click ‘Continue’.

5. Review your keywords and communities

Again, you’ll see the keywords and communities that you entered/joined at the start here.

  • You can update your keywords if you like. Remember, keywords help people find your business. So use words and phrases potential customers might use when looking for your products and services. Tip: If you don’t know what your keywords are, try the free Google Adwords tool(Google it to find it!).
  • New communities that match your keywords will display.
  • If you like what you see, click ‘Join’. ['Add' to join.]
  • Click on ‘Continue’.

6. Publish and announce

Now you’ve enhanced your Tradespace, it’s a good idea to announce it to your network and contacts by following these easy steps.

  1. Choose the contacts who will receive your notification by clicking on the arrow ‘>’.
  2. If you want to add new people to the list, use ‘Add contacts’ to do this, then click ‘Save new contacts’ to return to this page.
  3. Adapt the message text or type your own.
  4. Click ‘Publish & announce’. This will send your message and publish your enhanced Tradespace.

To skip the announce step, just click ‘Publish’.

Congratulations!

Your new Tradespace is online. This means you can start adding more great free features to your Tradespace! Some of these are

  • A gallery of your products or services
  • A shop
  • Online bookings service.
  • A free customer service community

All of the above can be done by clicking on the ‘My Tradespace’ link at the top of the screen which takes you to your dashboard.
