Activate
Terminology we use to when making a BT Tradespace account live. You should be able to activate your acount at the end of the sign up journey. If you haven’t received an email with your link to activate your account, please get in touch.
Account
The distinction between an account and a profile is that a user can have multiple profiles in one account with a single set of log in details. So you set up an account in the sign up journey. To edit your account details click on ‘Account details‘ in the top right hand corner of your screen.

Basic Tradespace
When businesses initially sign up to BT Tradespace, they get a basic Tradespace. The basic Tradespace works like a listing and all businesses with a basic Tradespace can ‘enhance’ their Tradespace free by clicking on ‘My Tradespace’ at the top and clicking on the ‘Enhance your Tradespace’ link in the intro they see.

Businesses we Like
‘Businesses we Like’ is the terminology used on a Tradespace to signify who that business is a fan of. In practical terms, it means the owner of that Tradespace has clicked the ‘Become a fan’ button on each of the Tradespaces listed under this tab thus becoming a fan of each of these businesses.
Communities
Communities are forums that BT Tradespace members can either set up or join.
Dashboard
The term used to describe the interface that allows business users to manage all of their activity on BT Tradespace including their Tradespace site. It can be accesses by clicking on the ‘My Tradespace’ link in the navigation.
Enhanced Tradespace
Used to reference a full Tradespace with extra features and functionality. Once a customer signs up to BT Tradespace, they get a basic Tradespace which they can then enhance by adding a shop, services area, a free customer service community, galleries with images and video plus add personal touches to their Tradespace. All of this encompasses an enhanced Tradespace which users can set up free from their dashboard.
Fan
Fans are the list of people who like and champion your business. The term ‘Our Fans’ on a given Tradespace refers to the number of consumers/shoppers who have clicked on the ‘Become a fan’ button on that Tradespace.
‘Business fans’ are businesses that have become a fan of that particular business/Tradespace. Once you become a fan, you will automatically get activity updates within your BT Tradespace so people can see who you’re connected to.
Gallery/Galleries
Terminology used where by businesses with an enhanced Tradespace can showcase their products and services through the use of images and video without having to sell online. Members can set up more than one gallery depending on what they want to showcase.
Keywords
Keywords are words members can use when signing up to BT Tradespace and attach to items they upload to BT Tradespace to increase their chances of being found in search results pages.
My favourites
Terminology used when referencing the list of people you have become a fan of.
My network
Currently displays the same content as the list of favourites which is the list people you have become a fan of. When referenced from a business Tradespace, it’s ‘Our Network’.
My Tradespace
The link that takes users to the interface that allows business users to manage their Tradespace website.
Network
An individual’s or business’ contacts across the site which they’ve made by becoming fans of each other.
PayPal
The current ecommerce partner. Members who wish to sell will need to enhance their Tradespace, enable their PayPal accounts and download a security certificate. We have a great guide that you can check out if you’re setting up shop.
Testimonials
A testimonial is a biased commentary that a consumer leaves on a business member’s Tradespace. Once submitted and published, it effectively endorses that Tradespace.
Tradespace
Web space or site that businesses receive when they sign up. See above for difference between a basic Tradespace and an enhanced Tradespace.
