A viral video has been doing the rounds. It’s been made by a bed company, Bensons for Beds, based in Cheshire.
It’s billed as an attempt to break the word record for mattress dominoes. It’s had about 600k viewings already. It’s a simple idea well executed. And actually we learn rather a lot about the company in question from what at first glance seems like a rather whimsical vid.
We get a sense of the amount and type of stock they have. We get a glimpse of their large, well-organised premises, we meet their staff and we see them having a laugh. They come across as people we could all happily get along with. People we’d do business with, perhaps. And they get their URL in discreetly at the end on the van doors without forcing it at us.
I think it’s a great example of how any business can do something fun with the Internet in mind. Beds are essential but essentially dull. This video isn’t dull. If you think your business is too workaday to harness social media and video, Bensons for Beds remind us that with a little creativity that needn’t be the case.
