BT Tradespace House Rules

The aim of BT Tradespace is to help you make the most of the web and social media in particular to do business. We, the editorial team (Amy, Derek and Bian) regularly write and film a range of subjects around this and we welcome your feedback, experiences and tips to help others.

We have a few main areas of content that you can use within the Explore BT Tradespace section.

Our blog: Our blog is news and comment on social media and commerce trends. We regularly have guest bloggers who are well know or experts in certain fields to write posts for us.  We’d like you to feel it’s not just us doing all the talking and you leave with fair objective advice. If you feel you’d like to do a guest blog for us please get in touch with us at vibes@bttradespace.com

Our team blog: Our team blog is mainly to help you know us as a team and also hear about things that are going on with us (BT Tradespace). If you want to know how to get the best out of our website, subscribe to it and we’ll keep you updated on the latest happenings at our HQ.

Our How to guides: Sticking with the theme of social media and commerce, our how to guides are basically practical tips and advice from us and our experts on how to make social media work for your business.

BT Tradespace TV: Some of us like to read, others like to watch. So to help you get one view of all the videos uploaded to BT Tradespace plus our own vids – we’ve created BT Tradespace TV. We love it and we hope you will to.

With all of the above, visitors can leave a comment or trackback against a post for 14 days after publication.

The rules

Like many other blogs we have house rules. These are for two reasons; first so that we don’t publish illegal or offensive material; and second to make sure our content areas continue to be useful to our readers.

We read all your comments before publishing them but will not withhold your comment unless it breaks the house rules. We will do our best to publish your comment quickly but outside of normal working hours or if we receive high numbers of comments, it may take us a little longer.

Your comments

1. Please be civil (in other words – nice) – we won’t publish anything that:

  • Is considered likely to provoke, attack or offend others
  • Is racist, sexist, homophobic, sexually explicit, abusive or otherwise objectionable
  • Contains swear words or other language likely to offend
  • Breaks the law, condones or encourage unlawful activity or which could endanger the safety or well-being of others
  • Impersonates someone else

2. We won’t publish comments that could damage the reputation of a person or an organisation, that risk prejudicing ongoing or forthcoming court proceedings or that could place BT in contravention of its legal and/or regulatory obligations. (Straight from the lawyers, this one)

3. We love comments, but please make comments relevant to the subject of the article. We may not publish comments that we consider to be spam or which are unrelated to the article content against which they are posted.

4. Please keep the number of comments you make on a topic reasonable. Too many posts from an individual or small group can discourage other readers from joining the conversation.

5. In exceptional cases we may get a high volume of similar comments on a post. In these cases we may close comments for that post, adding a note letting you know that further comments have been received but not published.

6. There are some topics we just can’t discuss. We will not post or comment on political or sensitive regulatory issues, about sensitive financial or other information or topics unrelated to the theme of this blog.

7. By submitting comments to this site, you warrant that such comments are not defamatory nor infringe any law. You agree to indemnify BT against all legal fees, damages and other expenses that may be incurred by BT as a result of your breach of the above warranty. (strong, we know, but true)

Trackbacks and links

We will publish trackbacks and links unless the page they link to breaches the house rules above or where the website they link to contains, or directly links to, material which is:

1. Offensive:

  • Pornography and sexually explicit content
  • Text and images likely to offend most people
  • Hate sites (on grounds of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation)
  • Gratuitous violence

2. Unlawful:

  • Condones or encourages unlawful acts
  • Breaches copyright law or encourage others to do so (e.g. peer-to-peer music sites, illegal downloads of software and games, etc.)
  • Defamation and contempt of court
  • Hacking or other technical disruption to online services
  • Describes how to conduct an unlawful act (e.g. bomb-making, fraud etc)

The fact that a link appears on this blog does not mean that BT in any way endorses the content of that website and is not responsible for its content or actions.

Your privacy

We ask for your email address when you post a comment.  The reason for this is because we may use it to contact you in relation to your comment but rest assured, we won’t be publishing it. We will not use it for any other purposes without your permission. For more information, please see our privacy policy.

If you need help

If you have a question for the editorial team, we’re happy to help.  Please post a comment including your email address and we’ll get back to you. Or email us directly.

Although our team blog will include articles related to your BT service, the editorial team can’t handle a large number of requests for help from customers. We will always do what we can and will pass relevant comments to the customer service teams. However, if you have a specific problem or question with any BT Business service, it is best if you use our normal support channels:

We may update these house rules from time to time, so please revisit this page to ensure your comments will be published.

Take care

Amy, Bian and Derek
