How to maximise returns on Twitter

Back to BT Tradespace how to guides

Mark Shaw is the man. When it comes to the font of all Twitter knowledge – he is your man. A small business himself, Mark has taken his passion for Twitter and turned it into an expertise. When we met up with him at our offices in London, we picked his brains to discover the business value of Twitter, what makes a really good tweet and most importantly, how to measure our activity on Twitter. View our video interview with him below to learn a thing or two.

He’ll be doing a series of pieces for us but this is the start of more great things to come. You can also visit Mark via his website at http://www.markshaw.biz.

You can also read our guide on ‘How to use Twitter to drive traffic to your site‘.

Has Twitter worked for you? What has been your experience – have you seen returns? Tell us by leaving a comment and you could be in our next video!

Looking at the margeting issue for my business found the video clip interesting and useful. Thanks

Absolutely Amazing! Thank you Mark for your clear, no-nonsense answers to the questions I’ve been asking others. I no longer fear Twitter but now understand the how and why I can use it to build my business. Thank you!

This is a long and slow process… don’t expect instant results. But it is a great way to engage with people.

Very useful discussion. We have been playing with Twitter for about a month and now we will schedule it as a work task.

Good practical advice and with the process steps.

Great interview and some good points. I started on Twitter fairly recently (follow me! I’m listed under “photofairytales”!!), and I’ve come to the realisation that its not necessarily about building up a huge number of followers, just getting the right followers: quality not quantity! I hate it when people I follow just bang on about getting more followers or about their website – I either ignore them or stop following them. I always try to make my tweets a good mix, and like to drop in exclusive Twitter offers too.

I have been using Twitter for over 18 months now and it is the key to the success of my new business and it is easily my biggest referrer of business. I am speaking at the mortgage trade industry dinner about social media because I have grown my franchised finance/consumer business primarily through Twitter and I am pleased to say that I am seen as the financial service’s key early adopter. Tweet regularly, tweet intelligently and spread your tweet love around are the 3 main core aspects of Twitter but also…give it time. Twitter will become the most useful of the social media platforms before this year is out, mark my words!

A great overview of using Twitter in business. We have already experienced business benefits and our plan is to further integrate Twitter into our business strategy. Follow me: @jim_kane

Thanks for the explanation of Twitter. As a wedding photographer I have been trying to think how it could be used to generate custom.
