Poll: How much time do you spend each week completing administration tasks?
Back to BT Tradespace blog
“Time is money” is a well-known business cliché, so it’s not surprising that one of the most common complaints among small businesses is the amount of time taken up with paperwork.
Few, if any, launch a start-up or run a company because they love administration. Indeed, some may regard it as a distraction from the main task of surviving and thriving through the current downturn.
However, whether you enjoy admin or not, it is an inescapable, and often vital, part of a successful business.
Updating customer details, compiling sales reports, recording supplier details and keeping up to speed with changing rules and regulations are all essential to the smooth operation of any small business.
The methods to accomplish these jobs vary greatly from filling in spreadsheets by hand to using the latest software. Indeed, many have found technology has enabled them to carry out admin faster so they can concentrate on the bottom line.
Nobody wants to spend any longer than necessary away from the business frontline, especially in this tough economic climate.
So please take a moment to answer the following question in our latest Have Your Say poll

Despite coming from a background in compiling financial accounts on a weekly basis for my previous employer, since starting up Granny Jacksons it’s incredible just how much time on a weekly basis goes into administration. Fortunately, I was introduced to the services of BT Business Builder that’s powered by Peter Jones’ BeProfessional business. I can easily say my time doing admin has more than halved and it has helped free up a lot of time for concentrating on other parts of the business as well given me more leisure time, more of a social life and a better work-life balance.
