How to set up a shop on BT Tradespace

1. Log in with your username and password.
You’ll need to have an enhanced business profile to add a shop to your Tradespace. This is quick and free to set up, plus we’ve step-by-step instructions to guide you through.
2. Open the shop set-up wizard to begin selling online.
You’ll find this in My Tradespace.
- Click on ‘Update your Tradespace’.
- Go to ‘Our shop’.
- Click on ‘Create shop’.
3. Have your PayPal account details to hand.
In order to sell on Tradespace you’ll need to have either a Premier or Business PayPal account. If you don’t have one of these, you’ll need to sign up for your free account at www.paypal.co.uk before you can set up your shop.
If you currently have a Personal PayPal account, you’ll need to change this to start selling, see the PayPal website for details on how to upgrade.
- You’ll also need product info and images for each product. Your maximum size for each image is 450 x 450 pixels.
- Click ‘Begin’ at the bottom of the page.
4. Set up a link to PayPal
First you need to set up secure payments for your shop. To do this:
- Enter your login email address for your PayPal account.
- Click on ‘Get certificate’.
- Now save this merchant security certificate to your PC.
Next you need to add this certificate to PayPal. Don’t close down the set up wizard while you’re doing this.
- Log in to PayPal then go to ‘Profile’.
- Select ‘Encrypted payments settings’, which is listed under ‘Selling preferences’.
- Scroll down to ‘Your public certificates’ and click on ‘Add’.
- You will see a success message and your certificate for BT Tradespace will now have a Cert ID number.
- Select the Cert ID and select ‘Copy’.
- Return to the set up wizard.
- Use ‘Paste’ to add the Cert ID to the box.
- When you see ‘Success’, click on Continue.
5. Create a category for your products
Give it a title, description and up to six keywords that relate to your business and the products you’ll sell.
If you’re only including a select group of products, let customers know where they can find the full range!
6. Add products to the category
- For each product, enter the product name and price.
- Now upload a main image for your product. If you need help with this, see the separate how-to guide for images and videos.
- You can upload another four images or videos to show customers the product.
- Enter at least one keyword for your product.
- Choose whether to highlight the product as a sale item, special offer or featured product.
- Now click on ‘Product description’ and enter your product info.
- Use ‘Additional info’ (optional) to explain any special offer or deal on the product.
- Click on ‘Delivery & returns’ and enter your details for this product. You must include any delivery charge in your price.
- When you’re done, click ‘Add product’.
- Repeat this process until you’ve added all your products.
- Click ‘Continue’.
7. Edit your product list
- Click move up or down to change the order of products shown in the category.
- Choose one product image to be the lead image for this category.
- ‘Edit’ allows you to make changes to your products.
- When you’re happy, click ‘Continue’.
8. Publish your shop
- Click ‘Publish’ and customers can start buying your products.
- Choose ‘Publish & announce’ to also send an email to your contacts that announces your new shop.
To publish and announce:
- Choose the contacts who will receive your notification by clicking on the arrow ‘>’.
- If you want to add new people to the list, use ‘Add new contacts’ to do this, then click ‘Save new contacts’ to return to this page.
- Scroll down and type your message in the box.
- Click ‘Publish & announce’. This will send your message and publish your community.
Success! Your shop is live on BT Tradespace. Visitors to your Tradespace will see a new tab called ‘Our shop’ where they can buy the products you’ve listed.
- Remember, you can add new categories and update your products at any time via the shop admin service.
- You’ll find your shop admin in ‘My Tradespace’.
- Click on ‘Manage your Tradespace’ then ‘Our shop’.
