Competition is good – it helps keep us on our toes and satisfy our need for achievement. One of the most oft-asked questions we get is – ‘who’s doing well on BT Tradespace?’

The answer is – lots of you really.

The people who are most interested in their Tradespace for instance. Or the ones who don’t stop with just an ‘About us description‘ (although that definitely helps with SEO) but ones who go on to do more and more on their Tradespace – these are the people who do well, who see leads, who get traffic and who are found on search and who see BT Tradespace results.
Your Tradespace isn’t yet another thing on the ‘to do list’. See it as a channel to sell, a place to connect with customers, an opportunity to do something different – whether that be with your blog, video, pictures – and you’ll soon find you want to be one of the ones that do more and get more….

The monthly BT Tradespace Charts is just another opportunity – to showcase those of you who doing more, and to inspire those of you who aren’t doing much and while we’re at it, to create a bit of healthy competition.

Five reasons to want to be on the BT Tradespace Charts

  • Because we’re giving your Tradespace the official thumbs up.
  • Because you automatically become one to watch to be a ‘Featured Tradespacer’.
  • Because we’ll be promoting this page to customers at every chance we get.
  • Because it’s not just 15 minutes of fame – hopefully, it’s leads and sales too.
  • Because your Tradespace deserves a bit of TLC if you want to see results!

Tradespaces with an ‘About us’ description and keywords can benefit from natural search visits

Posted by Bian Salins

2nd June 2009 in Managing your site

There are ways you can help yourself be found via search. One is to use the free tools that search engines like Google offer. But a more powerful way is to think smarter when using sites like BT Tradespace.

Every interaction that takes place on a social network is an opportunity for you to talk about your business in a relevant and engaging way. Every interaction is an opportunity to reach your customer or potential customer.

One such tool, ready for you to use – is your profile and ‘about us’ description. Mary (our resident Web Analyst a.k.a the smartest cookie in jar) spends a lot of her time digging deep into how users arrive at your Tradespace and she’s found that -

Tradespaces with an ‘about us’ description and keywords benefit from three times the number of natural search visits than those that don’t.

Your ‘about us’ description and keyword tools may seem like a small thing, but it can be a big traffic booster, if you use it well. It’s the first thing your customer sees within BT Tradespace search results – so what does yours say about you/your business?

Our tips are:

  • Keep it personal
  • Keep it relevant to your business and industry
  • Use your keywords where you can without overdoing it
  • Revisit it – time and time again – to make sure it’s working for you and your customer!
