Tradespace Performance Concerns

Back to BT Tradespace blog

I would like to take the opportunity to address some concerns regarding the overall performance of the BT Tradespace site in recent weeks.
It has been rightly observed by several customers that the Tradespace site has been intermittently very slow and the overall performance and instances of errors has been at an unacceptable level. I am aware of these issues and am monitoring the situation closely along with the rest of the Tradespace technical team. The main cause of the slowdown is simply due to the rapid increase in active users of the site. It’s a bit like having lots of applications open on your computer at the same time causing it to grind to a halt.
What are we doing about this? Quite a lot as it happens. We’ve already started systematically upgrading our server base to allow to cope with the growing customer base. Next, the Tradespace software application needs some TLC, which is a little more tricky and time consuming, but where we’ll see the most improvements. We’re also looking at more creative ways to give the site the fuel injection that it needs.
I’d like to make it clear that these measures are not just a sticking plaster to cover over the problems, but an ongoing regime of positive and permanent improvements that extends into next year and onwards. The ultimate solution to this is building an entirely new website application, which we’re working on now….watch this space!
The performance of the site is our #1 concern and is of the highest priority. We are committed to a first class experience for all our customers at all times, so please stick with us while we fix these problems.
I will post regular updates on this blog going forward. Additionally, for a more technical view, and some general techie banter, take a look at the BT Tradespace Tech Blog.

Hi Alex,
I thought my PC was up the creek as I could not access the site yesterday afternoon, but it was well worth it as 2 of the faults that I had reported have now been fixed. As they say Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Regards & best wishes to the team.

Good to hear its being addressed, but I’d suggest it isn’t intermittant, its permanent!
This could be very useful but its a long way off now. Lets hope its sorted soon.
