Tradespace team hits Brighton

Back to BT Tradespace blog

BT Tradespace turned one this month and to mark the event all the team here at Tradespace Towers packed our buckets and spades and descended on Brighten for our year 2 kick-off event.
While the sun was beating down on the beach outside, there was no shortage of energy and enthusiasm during the two-day event inside our meeting room as we laid out the plans for the year ahead for BT Tradespace. While we weren’t quite building sandcastles on the beach, we were putting in place the foundations for what is shaping up to be a very exciting year ahead for BT Tradespace and all our members.
One of the highlights of the event was a presentation we received by an avid Tradespace member – Ken Bomzer from Antiques Etc. Ken has been with us since the very early days of Tradespace and a regular contributor to the site. We heard from Ken about his business and how BT Tradespace helps his business to succeed and about some of the challenges he has when using the site. I’d like to say thanks to Ken on behalf of the whole team for your interesting and insightful presentation.
On the second day of the event we all took to the streets of Brighton to talk to local businesses about BT Tradespace. In true Apprentice fashion we split into teams each with a project manager to see how many leads we could generate in two hours. Of course my team won but not that I wish to gloat….
The serious point about the challenge was to help us get closer to the businesses and the people that we are building this site for. As one of the businesses we met pointed out on his own blog, we “get that it’s not just what the site does, it’s who is using it.”
So with nearly 100,000 businesses now registered on BT Tradespace we still have some way to go to reach our next big milestone of 1 million members. But with the whole team focussed on getting closer to the people we are building this site for, we have a great chance of getting there and helping your business succeed on the way.

Hi Derek,
Firstly I would like to thank you for inviting me along to your event, could you please next time arrange to have it a little closer to where I live, as a mile was a long way to travel.
I thought that the part of event that I attended was great and what a wonderful and friendly bunch of guys and girls they all are.
I am personally looking forward to all the exciting things that are going to happen in BT Tradespace and look forward to being part of it.
Please thank all the team for making me feel so welcome.
Regards & best wishes Ken – antiques et cetera

Many thanks for the link – I should point out that I’m just a geek working for a business, rather than an owner, but am very interested in what technology does to society, and vice versa.
I’ve left some relevant comments over at broadbandevolved.net (http://broadbandevolved.typepad.com/my_weblog/2008/05/the-future-of-5.html) which may appear, uh, “cautious” (not scathing ;) but as I say, I’m interested in what’s going on this space. Would love to hear further thoughts.
Cheers.
