How to upload and manage your images and video

Managing images and video is super simple on BT Tradespace.

They say pictures speak a thousand words, but they’re also worth a thousand clicks! Video and images are the latest way to market your business and are great to help you rank in search results. The best way to showcase your products is to enhance your Tradespace and set up a gallery using images and video.

Some ideas are:

• Pictures and videos of the people behind the business
• Images of your products
• Images to demonstrate your services
• Videos that contain tips/how tos (Tip: how to is the most searched for term!)
• Case study videos featuring happy customers

To upload and manage your images and/or video:

• Click on the ‘My Tradespace’ link at the top to go to your Dashboard.
• Once in your dashboard click on Manage your Tradespace
• Click on ‘Our Galleries’ in the left hand navigation
• Click on ‘Add gallery’
• Give your gallery a title and description plus don’t forget those all important keywords
• Upload your image or video (and add keywords specific to what you’re uploading)
• Once uploaded, announce and/or publish your gallery
• Go to your Tradespace to view it as your customers do!

Using the ‘media editor’ tool

The media editor tool is the tool that allows you to upload and manage all your images and video on BT Tradespace. You first encounter it when you sign up and upload your logo but you will use it the most within your galleries. To use the tool when creating a gallery or uploading an image/video from another location like sign up:

• Click on media editor
• Click on ‘Add from PC’ if you’re uploading a file (image or video) from your computer
• Make sure your file sizes for images are not too small otherwise they won’t upload (see below for sizes)
• Make sure your file size for video is not too big otherwise it won’t upload. Maximum file size for video is 500 MB
• Once you’ve selected the file you want to upload, you need to click the ‘Upload’ button
• This will upload the image and it should show in the media editor window.
• Add a title and description for your file
• Add keywords that are specific to the content of the file – so if people are searching for content like that, they can find you via your image etc.
• Save changes.
• Once you’ve uploaded a file, it saves online in your library so the next time you want to use an image or video you’ve uploaded in a different location like your shop or service area, you simply select the file from your library instead of your PC.

Images:

A couple of notes on images –

• Large thumbnails for your logo and profile images: 136px x 136px
• A header background image for the top of your Tradespace: 990px x 400px
• Product and service images to display in your gallery: Reduced to maximum of 450px in height or width (i.e if you upload a larger size it will shrink it automatically)
• Your ‘About us’ image: Reduced to maximum of 350px in either dimension height or width.

Video

And a  couple of points on video -

Video files need to be no more than 500 MB. If you upload your videos, the media editor converts it into the right format for this site so you needn’t worry about doing that. But, it sometimes takes a few minutes to process.
